Given the chance, they’ll slash food standards to match those of the United States, where what are called “acceptable levels” of rat hairs in paprika and maggots in orange juice are allowed.
There are levels at which natural contaminants are deemed no threat to health. I suspect where you set that bar is debatable.
The US has set that limit, the UK and EU hasn’t. The EU though has other mandatory checks where the US doesn’t on all products.
It doesn’t seem a fair balanced claim.
